Excerpt from “The Ten Things I Wish My Mom would have Told Me” Chapter 4 – Help Your Self First, Then Help Others

All this time placing myself second or last resulted in me having an oxygen-deprived brain therefore I was unable to give my best to myself.  My best was compromised by giving away the parts of me that was reserved for me.  I recall many times fighting within to complete something I really wanted but not having the “energy” that it took to make it happen.  Ironically this never happened when I was supporting or encouraging someone else to pursue their dreams and desires.
